Dangerous Material Terms
The transportation of dangerous materials and the ones that may harm the seas are carried out by MARPOL and SOLAS.
In the related parts of SOLAS and MARPOL, necessary regulations about IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) are stated in detail and they legislated these regulations in the matter of transportation through the sea. By 1st January 2004, IMDG Code has been obliged.
For every type of transportation (sea, air, road), the classification of dangerous materials and their risk definitions are regulated by the UN (UNITED NATIONS Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods).
